Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Many fans consider this to be the Miyazaki film, his breakout hit that set the formula for elements he would develop more fully in his later films and manga: daring, compassionate heroines; exciting flying sequences; colorful side characters; strong interpersonal relationships; and a magical, haunting score by composer Jo Hisashi that will bring tears of joy to your eyes.
Nausicaa!
What's nice about this new English dub from Disney is that it presents the film in its entirety, with strong vocal performances by Uma Thurman, Patrick Stewart, Alison Lohman, and Edward James Olmos. This is a must own title for any anime fan.

Ghost in the Shell 2 :
Innocence

Mamoru Oshii's landmark Ghost in the Shell re-defined anime as a whole and heavily influenced The Matrix. This long-awaited sequel features jaw-dropping, stunning CGI loaded with imaginative style and unique vision that is trademark Oshii.

Ghost in the ShellHowever, the American release of this masterpiece has a rushed, and botched feel to it, being subitled only, with no special features. Regardless, the film is so good we're willing to ignore the problems. The breathtaking visuals alone make this a must-have.

Who's the king of deepest darkest Africa? Well, it sure ain't Simba -- it's KIMBA! Watch the series that Disney shamelessly ripped off to make one of their hottest movies of all time. This classic (from 1965!) Osamu Tezuka anime series was a trend-setting show that gave Japanese animation a strong foothold in America, backed by the voice acting of Astro Boy's Billie Lou Watt.

Kimba! So crank out this retro-tv-series and re-live your childhood with your kids! Kimba (tv) is 40 years old and still going strong. You may also want to check out the updated Jungle Emperor Leo if your kimba memories are still intact.

Kung Fu:
The Complete First Season

Ah, Grasshopper! It was Bruce Lee's idea but David Carradine got the role. Regardless, Kung Fu has achieved mythical cult status and is required viewing.

Kung Fu!Meshing Chinese philosophy with the classic American Western, the morality tale plays out like a Shakespearean masterpiece, using timeless themes that transcend the boundary of mere TV.

Despite the age of the series, the stories are strikingly well-written, and the action still holds up (despite Bruce's absense). Kung Fu is simply one of the most engrossing, innovative sagas of all-time.

Anime.com does not advocate smoking, but this item is just so damn cool, we had to highlight it. Having a lighter, however, is always handy, as you can at least give a light to girl next to you at the dance club. And this piece is a great conversation starter that may get you her number...

Combined with the equally cool ID case (also made from stainless steel), this item is guaranteed to turn heads wherever you flash it. Celebrate your old-skool style with Astro Boy, *the* most recognizable animated character since Mickey Mouse.

If you thought one of the coolest things about Furi-Curi was it's grunge-influenced, hard-rock, edgy soundtrack, you're not alone. The Pillows, a Japanese rock band, is an overlooked gem of the 90's sound that influenced an entire generation.

They contributed, in no small way, to the miracle that is FLCL. This album is one of the very few available in the US, and happily, has all english track-titles. We guarantee this as a good, loud, drive-fast album that will definitely make it a regular on your iPod.
