Fullmetal Alchemist -
The Curse (Vol. 1)
What was it that compelled us to absorb this anime series so intently? Was it the clever use of believable physical laws for alchemy? Was it the unique world they inhabit, where alchemists are used by the military as living weapons? Was it the quest for the Philosopher's stone and the terrible secrets they discovered in the journey? Or, was it the unique relationship between the brothers and the real love they demonstrate for each other?
We're not sure, but combined, trust us, makes for one of the best anime series we've seen in a long, long time. A fantastic blend of action, drama and comedy, FullMetal starts strong and never lets go, with each episode ending as a cliff-hanger, you'll never stop watching!!!

PatLabor - The Original Series Collection
Mamoru Oshii's quirky series is a collection of weirdness, but, as the movies did as well, quickly mutates into an intelligent social-political drama worthy of Tom Clancy as the police clash with the military, undercover operations are questioned, and the robot fights become secondary to the complex dialogue, intrigue, and interactions between the characters.
In all, a classic series that deserves and honored spot on your shelf, if for no other reason than Oshii's pop-star rise to directorial genius during his tenure. If you enjoy anime with a brain behind it, this is the series to own.

Tae Guk Gi:
The Brotherhood of War
A stunning movie by every measure, you will be shell-shocked just watching it. Absolutely the most powerful and moving film you will ever see. A tear-jerker, and a gripping & extraordinary film that shows the true, absolute horror of war from an unflinching perspective, as two brothers are thrust into the conflagration of the Korean War. Epic production value and outstanding performances make this monumental movie a must-have!
We saw it in the theater and there was not a dry eye in the place! Must be seen to be believed! If politicians could see this movie, they would never make war again. Be warned! The horrific battle sequences are more brutal than you expect - this movie makes Saving Private Ryan look like a walk in the park.
