Anime DVD Review by Brian Cirulnick

BlassreiterThe acid test of any anime series is, after an episode is finished do you immediately want to watch the next one and see what happens next? Such is the case with Blassreiter; I just couldn't pull myself away from the TV!

Although each episode resolves an immediate crisis, the overall crisis of the story arc is unresolved, making you want to watch more, and even when they resolve a story arc, a new arc develops within that episode which then starts the whole process all over again. Skillfully directed in this manner, you'll not be able to stop at any point without feeling as if you'd just left the best slice of pie on the plate! Read More...

Dragonaut: The ResonanceDragonaut: The Resonance
Dragonaut: The Resonance
Anime DVD Review by Brian Cirulnick

DragonautYou need to watch about eight episodes of this series before you really *get it*. At first, you have no idea what the heck is going on, you're just as confused as Jin, the main protagonist, and frankly, none of this is making the least bit of sense. The over-the-top, top-heavy character designs don't make the job of getting through this any easier, you spend half your time wondering if humans could ever really look like that.

Fortunately, just as you're about to reach for the remote and end the pain, the series becomes inexplicably *good*, and then you're in for the breast.. uh, best ride in recent memory as the action heats up and it seems as if you're in the middle of it.

Anime DVD Review by Saul Trabal

D.Gray-manA terrifying evil is threading its way across 19th Century Europe. It is snatching the souls of its victims, turning them into monsters called the Akuma. These creatures are controlled by a malevolent spirit called the Millennium Earl.

The only thing stopping them from world domination is a league of exorcists. Among them is a teenager named Allen Walker. He is wise beyond his years and has incredible powers at his disposal-an eye that enables him to see the cursed spirits, no matter what guise they may have. His arm can morph into a claw-like weapon of immense power, capable of destroying the dark spirits.

Hattori Hanzo SwordHattori Hanzo Sword
Hattori Hanzo Sword
Note: This is NOT a toy!

In the epic film "Kill Bill", Budd tells Bill he pawned his priceless Hattori Honzo katana, and later tells Elle she can have Beatrix's equally priceless sword for a cool million. But you can have this Hattori Honzo masterpiece for under twenty-five bucks!

Sure, it's a cheap replica, and it's guaranteed to fall apart if you every try to do anything "real" with it (disclaimer: DO NOT try and chop people with this sword, it is sharp!!!), but it looks damn impressive, and will make quite the display just above the bookshelf in your dorm.

The Scabbard is engraved with three leaves as seen in the movie and wrapped with a cast metal collar and pommel. A Hattori Hanzo Lion symbol is engraved carefully on the stainless steel blade.

Martial Arts Book Review by Brian Cirulnick

Martial ArtsAnime fans are by nature, not a very social lot. Sure, we get together at a convention now and then, and there's some cliques of us that do hang out together, but generally, the large majority of fanboys and fangurls are by themselves... a lot. So too, can be that anime fan that is taking up the whole Japanese lifestyle; eating the food, watching the anime, learning the language, and taking some basic martial arts training. Read More...

A live action Gatchaman film was never made, but back in 2000 NTT did a series of commercials featuring the J-pop band SMAP in a mock trailer of sorts. Right now Imagi is working to ruin the franchise (just like Astroboy!) but this advert offers a look into a film that might have been:
