There are two kinds of anime fans in the world, kuma. Those who will watch Sands of Destruction, and those who will not, kuma. And those who will not are missing out on a good thing, kuma.
Based on the best-selling SEGA game for the Nintendo DS, Sands of Destruction takes place in a world where mankind has lost the war to the Beast-men, and as such, anthropomorphic critters run society, and we're second-class citizens. Read More...
Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman learns RIGHT AWAY that "with great power comes great responsibility", and thereafter, he's the good guy we can all relate to. On the other hand, we have Kouichi, the protagonist of Linebarrels of Iron, who becomes more and more of a douche-bag as the series progresses.
And the dude has been handed some enormous power. But it didn't come easily. His life starts out as a complete loser, a punching bag for every bully on the block. He wants to do what's right, but feels totally powerless. When the mysterious, naked, amnesiac Emi crash-lands on his pitiful existence, it literally knocks him off his feet and into a near-death (OK, it's actual death, but I don't want to give it away) experience that bonds him with the Linebarrel Mecha. You know that cheerleader chick from HEROES? The one who can heal instantly, so she's essentially immortal, even able to rip herself out of a body bag after being deemed dead? That's essentially Rin, an anime that is definitely not for the kids. In fact, I'd say this series is *borderline hentai*, as it's rife with nudity, lesbian sex, and S&M galore. In fact, half the fun of the series is seeing what creative way Rin will be killed this episode, as a lot of it seems to happen slowly and painfully. Read More...
All the hype this year has been about the James Cameron film "Avatar". A lot of people have been saying it's essentially a rip-off of "Dances with Wolves", but set in space. Well, it's not, it's a complete rip-off of this film, "Battle for Terra", and this is *already* set in space.
The Terrans (aliens) actually have advanced technology, but the Humans still wipe the floor with them after an initial hard fought battle. The swinging trees don't beat the storm troopers on Terra. Read More...
Bayonetta
Videogame Review by Brian Cirulnick
If you've played "Devil May Cry" and enjoyed it, you'll be head over heels (pun intended) for Bayonetta. The gameplay is essentially the same, but the eye-candy is so much more appealing. She's got a killer body. Literally. She's even got guns in her high-heels, and she dresses like leather-fetish dominatrix, and even has the kawaii glasses to boot (pun intended again!) You can't go wrong with a combination of the secretly-slutty-librarian and over-the-top ultra-violence. I predict big sales for this Halloween costume! It's rated "M" for mature, and they mean it. Available for XBOX360 and Playstation 3.
Blizzard and TOKYOPOP have joined forces together and produced a manga based on the greatest game of all time: StarCraft!! If you're not familiar with StarCraft, to put it simply, it's a real-time sci-fi strategy war game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the PC. It's an in-depth story about the Terran, Zerg and the Protoss. Read More...
We don't really need to tell you the story. We don't need to cover the characters. You know 'em, you love 'em, and it's really just that simple. Except it's not.
Only in the manga are we allowed to gush over Arakawa's magnificently detailed and striking artwork. And of course, the manga goes places the anime never did (because the TV series ended, the manga is still published, and the TV series didn't have the same plotlines), so if you want a whole new experience within a world we are sure you're already familiar with, all we can say is "go for it". GODZILLA is... King of all monsters! Nature's radioactive revenge! The Big G!
Bigger, badder, and more durable than Hollywood's greatest action heroes, Godzilla emerged from the mushroom cloud of an H-bomb test in 1954 to trample Tokyo. More than 40 years later, he reigns as the undisputed king of monsters, with legions of fans spanning several generations and countless international boundaries. Read More...
