The Guyver

Anime DVD Review
You think you've seen violence and gore? Ha! Guyver makes the epic violence in other animes seem like an episode of the Teletubbies. Guyver is a Japanese anime based on a popular manga written by Yoshiki Takaya. It is also directed by Katsuhito Akiyama who has directed a span of popular anime series like Thundercats, Bubblegum Crisis and Magical Project S.
Guyver is about a young high school boy named Sho Fugamachi who discovers the Guyver unit near a creek. Upon touching it, Sho's body is immediately overtaken and transformed by the Guyver unit. He then possesses god-like abilities and fighting skills which over time he comes to master. In order to activate this bio armor Sho must call out the power of the suit: Guyver. After discovering the Guyver unit, he immediately discovers that other monsters are after it as well. These monsters want to possess and harness the power of the Guyver unit to carry out their own dirty actions by controlling the face of the planet and turning humans into dreadful monsters like themselves.
 These events are happening because higher beings from a distant planet came to earth and intended on making a superior race of warring creatures. Humans were created but the evolutionary stage was not completed for the humans to fully transform into this superior race of warring creatures called Zoanoids. Zoanoids are a certain type of monster whose main objective is to fight, kill and give power to their race. They usually look human but have the tendency to transform into its monster stage at will.
The other plan was then to set Zoanoids in different countries around the world and at a certain date and time have them all transformed into their monster stage and force the leaders around the world to yield to their evil will for dominance.
Sho learned all of this after being captured by the one of the Zoanoids and taken back to their secret headquarters. Along the way he comes across two other Guyvers and realizes that he is not alone. Sho must then learn foe from ally when it comes to befriending the other Guyvers because it seems like each Guyver has his own disillusioned personal goal.
 The bad guys in this action packed anime are not your regular, run of the mill boring bad guys. No. Each and every one of the bad guys in this anime has his own personal motivation of why he's doing the things he's doing. They're not attacking and killing just because they feel like it. This makes the viewer think twice of who's the hero and who's the real villain. Guyver the bioboosted armor is a very intense, violent anime filled with drama that will keep you screaming GUYVER!!
By the way; this anime has a lot of violence, blood, gore, brief nudity and hardcore scenes so please be warned, if you intend on purchasing it for a child it's rated TV MA (Mature).
