Manga Review
The life of a teenager is tough enough without reincarnation. Keidai Saeki doesn't just have high school to deal with. Vivid memories of his past life are giving him no end of trouble. He can't help it. He still thinks of himself as a nobleman named Sirix. For him, the destruction of Pompeii in the year A.D. 79 seemed like only yesterday. The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius has left its mark on his soul.
The life of a teenager is tough enough without being a star-crossed lover. Sirix lost his one true love in the last days of Pompeii. Serena was gorgeous. Her tears made her eyes sparkle all the more the last time he looked into them. He could forget that no matter how many lives he lives.
That was then; this is now. The forces of time and space seem to have had their evil way with Keidai. His biggest rival in his Pompeii days has come back as his father. His little sister has come back as his mother. His best buddy has come back as a girl named Serizawa.
And his true love has returned. Serena has moved next door. And she's now a boy named Yuuma. Can Keidai deal with all of this without, at the very least, looking as though he has gone stark, raving mad?
Mizuho Kusanagi (famous for such manga as Mugen Spiral) didn't really intend to write a comic like this. She had intended to create a fairly pedestrian romance manga. But she was into ancient Rome and the fall of Pompeii. She glommed onto the reincarnation angle. She tossed it all into the mix, and let it simmer. If you like your romance compliucated with just a touch of fantasy and madness, check out Keidai's "NG" (No Good) life.
